SIRIUS Satellite Radio Selects Grass Valley MPEG-4 AVC Argos Encoders

PC Satellite TV: SIRIUS Satellite Radio has selected Grass Valley Argos MPEG-4 AVC mobile TV encoders from Thomson for deployment of its SIRIUS Backseat TV offering. The Argos MPEG-4 AVC encoder is designed to handle very low bit rates while enabling flexible frame rate encoding to meet the growing demand for audio and video content streamed over broadcast, broadband, and wireless networks. Bangladesh relaxes restriction on satellite TV channels

PC Satellite TV: Dhaka, May 28: Authorities in Bangladesh have lifted a ban on 36 foreign television channels, on which the army-backed government abruptly imposed restriction a few days ago. The government in a statement on Sunday, three days after its decision not to allow the downlink of over 60 foreign channels, said that a committee recommended transmission of another 36 foreign television channels, including 11 pay channels, in Bangladesh.The committee headed by Syed Hasinur Rhaman, additional secretary to the information ministry, recommended down-linking the channels in addition to the existing 41 channels, including 12 local ones earlier approved by the interim government.
