I was a Directv customer for two years and was satisfied with the picture quality and the channels I was receiving, at least, until I realized that Dish Network has so much more to offer for less money! I had the premier package with Directv with high definition for just one TV while I had two standard digital receivers for the bedrooms. I own two HD TV's but when I started with Directv, they were only offering one HD receiver for free to first time customers along with the two free standard receivers for my other rooms. I couldn't get the HD-DVR because I would have needed to buy it and I didn't have the money prepared at the time so I settled for less. I went two years without a HD-DVR because in difficult economic times, it didn't seem feasible to spend $199.99 on something I was already living without.

I did some research on Dish Network and realized that I was wasting my hard earned money for two years.Dish Network has better premium channels to choose from especially for horror movie fans like me! I need to have access to excellent movies; otherwise, it is not worth it to have television service at all. I watch movies more than I watch network television so when I found out that Dish had more to offer there was no question as to who the better provider is. Even if I didn't want America's Everything Package for practically every movie channel known to man, I could still order the Classic Gold 250 package and be satisfied.

This package has 250 channels of pure entertainment and contains the awesome 7 Channel Encore Package that is packed with a great variety of blockbuster movies including westerns for when the grandparents come to visit! That would be enough entertainment for the whole family but I usually go right to the top for the largest movie selection. Directv does not offer Showtime Beyond and I didn't even know about it until I learned more about what Dish Network has to offer. This was a huge selling point for me because it contains all Sci-fi and horror movies all the time! I only had Chiller as a horror channel when I had Direct. Chiller has a good share of horror flicks but many of them are low budget. Showtime Beyond has better quality movies so I don't have to cross my fingers every time I check the guide for a great horror movie.The movie channels aren't the only attraction that drew my business to Dish Network.

I was able to set up new service for free and get the receivers that would have cost me $299.98 when I first signed up for Directv. This savings was huge! I no longer had to go without the service I always wanted because I could have the equipment I've been waiting two years for with no upfront cost whatsoever. I set up service for my three rooms eagerly awaiting the premium entertainment of my dreams. I received one HD-DVR for the living room. This dual receiver also works on the TV in my daughter's bedroom. It is a high definition DVR in the living room but acts as a digital DVR for the standard TV in my daughter's room! I souped up our bedroom with a HD receiver. We've had a high def TV in our room that was getting standard def programming for the longest time even though we spent almost one thousand dollars on the TV when we bought it.

Dish Network allowed us to watch the quality high definition programming we've been waiting for in the comfort of our living room and bedroom with crystal clear picture and sound quality.Here's the funniest part about all of it… I have a cheaper monthly bill! I was kicking myself for not ordering Dish Network in the first place. I just looked up satellite TV when I noticed that my friends had it. I didn't ask them which service they had and I assumed it was all the same so I just ordered Directv. I probably should have talked with my friends first because they actually have Dish Network!I am saving $61 per month for the first year of service just for switching to a better television service. That's $732 this year alone. After the promotional period, I will still save $26 per month. That translates to a total savings of $1,044 during the two years that I am committed to Dish. I'm planning on putting that extra money aside to take the family to Walt Disney World rather than putting it toward mediocre TV service!
